Kevin Durant injured in win over Wizards
Durant limped out late in the second quarter of the Thunder’s 125-101 mauling of the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, failing to reappear for the second half.
Washington’s effort against the Thunder was particularly egregious, especially since Kevin Durant exited the game with a strained hamstring at halftime, so Wittman has a right to be animated. He would be re-evaluated in 7 to 10 days.
Durant was off to a hot start in his hometown, scoring 14 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out four assists in 17 minutes. While the injury may conjure up memories from last season, Durant took a more positive approach on it. “It’s unfortunate, but it’s a part of the game”, Durant said. Durant played in only 27 games in 2014-15 due to foot injuries. “Nothing’s changed. It’s just our mentality and our approach to the game”.
“They’re trying to get a lot of guys here surrounding James”, shared Durant, referring to the rumors that the Houston Rockets intend to add him to their roster, according to Houston Chronicle. Oklahoma City plays Philadelphia, Boston, Memphis and New Orleans followed by the Knicks and Mavericks over the next two weeks.
Before the win over the Suns, Oklahoma City suffered losses to the Houston Rockets (110-105), Toronto Raptors (103-98), and the Chicago Bulls (104-98).
Kevin Durant had 32 points and 11 rebounds to help the Thunder.
“We don’t defend. Guys drive by us at will. We don’t have any toughness”.
“I can get a rebound, I guarantee you”, said the 56-year-old Wittman, a former shooting guard. I’m not going to give up.
Despite playing at home, the Wizards fell behind early, trailing 37-23 after the first quarter and never really recovered as they were playing without their top scorer in Bradley Beal, who was suffering from a minor shoulder injury. I don’t want to lose my newly acquired internship, but let’s just say that the texts reeked of the anger and sorrow that comes from being a life-long ‘Skins fan.
The Wizards will have three days to rectify their issues before hosting Orlando, who they limited to 87 points on opening night, by far the fewest they have allowed all season. Just got to work to get back.
During garbage time in the fourth quarter, Randy Wittman emptied the bench.
