Kevin Durant out 7-10 with hamstring strain
If you’re a fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the NBA, basketball or human decency, three words you don’t want to hear are “Kevin Durant injury” but that was the case again tonight when the Oklahoma City Thunder left the game with a “hamstring injury”. An MRI on Wednesday morning showed the strain.
Durant was on the court at the end of the half; the injury was announced at the start of the third quarter.
Through eight games this season, Durant is averaging 28.1 points (fourth in NBA), 7.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game for the 5-3 Thunder.
“We just talk about he didn’t pass me the Gatorade on the bench and I was mad at him”, Gortat said. “Hamstrings are really tricky and we want this guy to be back for the long haul”, Fisher told the NY Post. “You give me 27 minutes on Saturday and I can get you a rebound”. Durant appears to have finally returned to elite-level status after dealing with foot issues for much of last season. Bradley Beal has already said that he agrees with Durant’s comments.
It was the third straight game in which the Wizards have given up more than 115 points and lost by double digits.
Other Thunder stepped up in Durant’s absence with Serge Ibaka scoring for 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting including a ideal 3-of-3 field goals from behind the arc. “Until we get [ticked] off as individuals, take a little pride, taking a stand from a defensive standpoint, it’s going to be like that”.
The Wizards came into this season with aspirations of reaching 50 wins and getting to the Eastern Conference finals after bowing out in the second round each of the past two years.
Durant, a fan favourite from the nearby Maryland suburbs near Washington, grabbed at his left leg late in the second quarter. “You lose a couple of key guys to your team, and you still got guys who can play and win a game”.
“I’ll just get treatment and see how it goes”, he added. Nothing goes right for the ‘Skins, as my friend pointed out in a series of drunken texts to me in October, shortly after Kirk Cousins threw a walk-off pick six.
Fisher said there wouldn’t be any minutes restrictions on Afflalo upon his return, but that he would keep him from playing both games of back-to-backs. “I can walk, it’s just a little sore”.
