Kevin Durant returns, leads Thunder past Grizzlies 112-94
Durant sat out Monday’s 116-104 home loss to Sacramento, and remains doubtful for Thursday morning, which will be the final regular-season meeting between the Grizzlies and Thunder.
Although Memphis come off an encouraging 91-78 win at the Portland Trail Blazers, OKC, who average 108.5 points per game – the second highest this season – emerge as favourites.
Thunder forward Kevin Durant will play Wednesday night against Memphis after sitting out Oklahoma City’s game Monday night against Sacramento with a sprained right big toe.
Following the home stand against the Grizzlies today, the Thunder will go on a three-game Western Conference road trip that will begin versus the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center this Friday.
Durant is the Thunder’s leading scorer, averaging 26.6 points a game, together with 7.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.4 blocks in 35.8 minutes of action per outing. They’ve got a 24-11 record, 16-5 at home, but only 3-4 without Durant. It marks just the third time in league history that two (or more) teammates have shared those honors.
“As a team in general, we’ve got to be able to hang our hat on defense”, Donovan said. The Grizzlies have failed to score 100 in 14 of their last 17 games. “It’s not about me, it’s about winning and whatever the coach thinks is best for the team”.
The two sides have met twice so far this season, both times at Memphis, for an eight-point win to the Grizzlies in November, and a 37-point win to the Thunder in December. The Grizzlies have won four of the last six meetings, though the Thunder have won four of five in Oklahoma City.
