Kevin Feige: Spider-Man ‘Belongs’ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige added: “And also the subtext was, what does Cap say, “They’re not the ’27 Yankees” – well if Captain Marvel is there, what are we saying about her?” That would probably be the cool thing to do. “Making the agreement with Sony is great and wonderful”. “What was unique about him in the comics was not that he was the only superhero in the world; it’s that he was a totally different kind of superhero when compared against all the other ones in the Marvel universe at the time”.
In anticipation of the upcoming release of Avengers: Age Of Ultron for DVD and Blu-ray, Marvel has released the blooper reel for the film, complete with Avenger-on-Avenger kissing, a poop joke, and even a few CGI bloopers. Talking about how it has always been their dream to bring the web crawler into the MCU, Feige expressed his personal drive to “do great things” with the character on film. “Meg [LeFauve] and Nicole [Perlman] are great, and I think getting the character right first is going to lead the charge. We’re still trying to sort out which parts”.
The third bit of news has to do with the famed wallcrawler, Spider-Man.
Interesting, right? With this, Feige confirms that Marvel has contingency plans in place for the current overarching storyline leading to Infinity War, on the off chance they regain the film rights to characters not yet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However Fox doesn’t seem to be interested in making a similar deal – most likely because the X-Men film franchise is a successful one and they met the Fantastic Four deadline that allows them to keep the property for another few years. If not, we’re going to do this. What are we going to do with Cosmo? And one of the things we love in the comics is that the roster is always changing. I mean, the universe is big. But the ideas and the ideals and things that make the Avengers the Avengers still exist, and I think that’s part of what this culmination will be. It means a lot and now we better not screw it up… We’re a relatively small team. By the time we start doing a movie, they’d be midway through a season. “I don’t know, it didn’t work out too well last time he came to earth”. In this second gag reel from Marvel, we see some of the main cast showing off some dance moves while we see some CGI glitches. And judging by the way that the Marvel Studios folks are answering these questions, it will also be well-explained after the fact if people just ask them about it.
