Kevin Harvick Cuts Tire Early in Las Vegas
Martin Truex Jr. passed a slowing Brad Keselowski with two laps remaining to win Sunday’s Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He comes to Vegas as a three-time victor and his driver rating of 96.9 at the track is just behind Harvick. We’re here to break it all down for you and hopefully not start any more arguments along the way. You can get live updates and scoring at NASCAR’s Race Center. But Sunday proved that he still has one heck of a temper.
Now that’s something to understandably be upset about. Busch, who ended up being scored with a 22nd place finish, obviously was none too pleased with how the last lap played out. When Busch approached Logano after the race, Logano was pulled away as a scuffle ensued involving Busch and members of Logano’s No. 22 team.
“Kyle and I have always raced really well together”. He chalked both races up to luck – good and bad respectively. It seems as if he’s either awesome or completely and thoroughly cursed.
Truex Jr. started second in the Furniture Row Racing No. 78 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER BOATS Toyota Camry, but he went on to win Stages 1 and 2.
Keselowski disposed of Elliott and then, with 24 laps to go, he blew past Truex Jr. and into the lead. Larson won the second Michigan Speedway race to qualify for his first Chase and finished ninth in the Cup standings. The runs just didn’t work out the way we needed them.
You’ve got to feel a little sympathy for Kyle Larson.
Keselowski dominated the first stage of the race after starting on the pole, but at the end of the stage, Truex was the front-runner. The 2014 Cup champion had the field covered and then some, winning the first two stages in dominant fashion and appeared to be cruising to the checkered flag. We have Auto-Owners coming back this year. Another Top 15 run Sunday will make him a bargain, and Stenhouse is someone you will want to use as a cap saver in at least a few of your lineups.
Johnson was hoping there’d be a caution which would have allowed him to get in and out of the pits during the caution so he could keep the lead. Other short odds to prevail are Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick, who each have 15/2 odds. It will be interesting to see if the off-track action carries over on-track.
“There wasn’t much talking, there was a lot of swinging”, said Logano after the pit road brawl. As the cars entered the final turn Logano slid high and clipped Busch’s fender.
