Kevin Harvick wins rain-delayed NASCAR race at Bristol

Kyle Busch will start the restarted race on Sunday from pole as he was leading the field by the time of the stoppage on lap 48 of the scheduled 500.

NASCAR has been racing under the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway since 1978 andt he night race has never been postponed because of rain, until Saturday night.

Pole-sitter Carl Edwards, the victor at the track in the spring, led a top five qualifying filled with Joe Gibbs Racing racers. NASCAR resumed drying efforts, even getting cars back on-track at one point, but it was to no avail as another storm arrived on the half-mile oval. He remains seventh in the championship standings after Bristol. Rain at Pocono Raceway three weeks ago pushed that finish until Monday when rookie Chris Buescher won his first Sprint Cup title as continued bad weather shortened that race.

The weather-hampered race was postponed a day due to heavy rain and lightning, and its resumption on Sunday was delayed by additional rain through the morning into the early afternoon.
