Kevin Seraphin Agrees To Sign For New York Knicks — National Basketball Association Trade News
Seraphin appeared in a career-high 79 games last season for the Wizards and averaged 6.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game.
The soon-to-be-26-year-old Seraphin is an acceptably below-average PF/C, ideally suited for the fourth big man role in the Knicks’ rotation. The problem for New York is if he does expand his game, there won’t be any value to be had for the following season, though Seraphin may have wanted a one year contract no matter what, especially with the impending cap boom. The Knicks can be more than the worst team in the National Basketball Association this season.
Seraphin has spent his entire five year career with the Wizards and came into the offseason looking to land in a spot he could get a starting job. According to Sam Amico from Fox Sports, the Knicks have interest in Norris Cole but aren’t lock to sign him. You know what you are going to get with Boozer, but it is a lot lower of a ceiling. With five guys on the roster capable of playing center (including Kristaps Porzingis and Lou Amundson), will New York use more of the big lineups that have failed so spectacularly for them in recent years?
The New York Knicks are interested i signing Norris Cole in an effort to explore all avenues towards putting out the dumpster fire. The Knicks will be much more athletic than in 2015-16, so it could very well work…as long as they don’t expect Carmelo Anthony to guard the perimeter. Seraphin has improved as a passer and has a reliable hook shot, which means he should fit into the triangle offense just fine as Lopez’s backup.
The Knicks last season were an abysmal rebounding and interior defensive team, with Jason Smith getting the majority of minutes at center.
The Knicks should also be happy to have Seraphin because he is a threat offensively.
