Kevin White Returns to Practice for Bears
When they placed White on the physically-unable-to-perform list following surgery to fix a stress fracture in his shin, the Bears had until Tuesday to make a decision if he could join the team for practice.
“That one bothers me, the fact that we were not on the same page on that”, Gase said. Star running back Matt Forte has missed his time along with Jeffery and fellow receiver Eddie Royal. Although getting back from the PUP list was a slow process, general manager Ryan Pace downplayed the severity of the injury, per ESPN.com’s Jeff Dickerson: “Kevin has a shin injury that we told him to stay off of the last month”. The Bears have been without Forte for three games, but backup Jeremy Langford has done a good job filing in. “Just looking forward to being out there”. At the end of the 21 days, the Bears must decide whether to move White to their active roster or to season-ending injured reserve. “Business as usual”, John Fox said. “I’ve just got to be smart with it. If I’m feeling good and I’m ready to go, then I guess we’ll have to see”.
Still, Tuesday’s development is an encouraging sign White is progressing toward being the explosive downfield weapon the Bears envisioned when they drafted him out of West Virginia. White acknowledged he still has discomfort in his leg, and isn’t yet running at full speed. “I actually like it because now going forward I’m not going to have to play every single play or every down”, he said.
