Key & Peele do commercial, improv for Super Bowl Sunday
This is its third consecutive Super Bowl commercial. Yesterday, the announcement was made with a couple trailers and previews of the coverage.
Key and Peele are teaming up with Squarespace for what should be a highlight of Super Bowl Sunday: a live video commentary during the game, in character as the aspiring sports broadcasters Lee and Morris. First, the stunt is technically an ad for Squarespace, and second, Key & Peele are legally blocked from saying players’ names or specifically mentioning the game at all. But that’s beside the point, because no matter what we call the game, it’s going to be sweetened by the comedic stylings of Key and Peele.
Fans of Key and Peele who have seen their college football parodies may have an idea of what to expect.
Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, better known as Key and Peele, broke the hearts of fans everywhere when they aired the final episode of their acclaimed sketch comedy show back in September. Hopefully this time around will be just as amusing.
Reminds us a bit of this–taken to the next level…
Those who get bored of the straightforward commentary of Super Bowl announcers Jim Nantz and Phil Simms will have another more eccentric option this Sunday.
Lee and Morris will also star in Squarespace’s in-game Super Bowl commercial, created by Anomaly.
