KFC Is Now Delivering Fried Chicken In San Francisco And Los Angeles
The first delivery on Thursday will mark the first time the fried chicken chain has made a delivery to its customers in the United States.
KFC has started home delivering its buckets of fried chicken as it tries to expand its brand in the US.
The company is working with online delivery company DoorDash to deliver its chicken, biscuits and coleslaw after customers make order online.
Customers will place their orders through the website or app of DoorDash.
Caldwell said it’s too early to determine whether the DoorDash partnership would expand nationwide, although KFC does plan to go from about 60 to 100 test locations when it expands to the Texas market.
And residents in those cities aren’t as centralized as, say, Chicago or NY — meaning delivery routes could be less efficient.
However, its popular value meal the eight-piece Family Fill Up will stay the same price of $20 (£13).
There will be a delivery fee, and prices of items (the company reports the entire menu is available for delivery) may vary according to neighborhood.
A big rival of KFC, Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen does not deliver, but other chains added delivery service of recent.
Pizza restaurants deliver to your door. The chains partner with DoorDash and Postmates because they provide delivery people, an expense that the restaurants don’t have to worry about.
“Decades ago, people traveled from miles around to visit Colonel Sanders’ original Corbin, Ky., restaurant to taste his now world famous Original Recipe Chicken”, said KFC U.S. chief information officer, Chris Caldwell.
KFC already offers delivery in several Asian countries.
