Khabib Nurmagomedov Hospitalized After Weight Cut, UFC 209 Fight Cancelled
The tandem of 170-pounders previously fought to a majority draw at UFC 205 on November 12, 2016 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. UFC 209 is now headlined by a main event welterweight title rematch featuring champion Tyron Woodley and challenger Stephen Thompson. With the skills that both fighters have, the fight may just be as good as predicted.
The highly anticipated UFC 209 co-main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson has been canceled.
The UFC post-fight press conference featured a last but definitely not least tour-de-force from Conor McGregor. And since he defeated Rafael dos Anjos in 2014, many have viewed the Russian as the uncrowned king of the lightweights.
UFC 209 looks to be a great card.
Vannata has been nothing short of spectacular since his UFC debut in July.
This marks the third time that Nurmagomedov and Ferguson have been forced to reschedule their fight. However, Ferguson dug deep and pulled the submission out of the bag in the second stanza. Teymur will be a tough test for Vannata, but I don’t think it will be too hard. Thompson has the right guns to bring down an aggressive opponent, but he didn’t have the right bullet in the first fight. However, on Friday, the promotion scratched the fight from the card “on the doctor’s recommendation”.
Belts don’t mean everything in the fight business.
Currently, this fight is close in Vegas’ eyes, but I think Overeem should win with relative ease.
This fight is nearly guaranteed to produce a stoppage and in all likelihood will end in a spectacular knockout.
Alistair Overeem and Mark Hunt have fought a combined 79 times, including once before against each other. He has tremendous one-punch KO ability in his hands.
