Khattar Says ‘Muslims Should Give Up Beef’ Comment ‘Misconstrued’
Jawahar Yadav, the OSD to the Haryana chief minister, was quick to clarify that Khattar had said nothing of the sort, and that the newspaper got it wrong.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has once again courted a controversy by announcing terms and conditions for Muslim community before they decide to stay in India. He condemned the incident but at the same time said “both sides” were to blame.
According to IE report, Khattar tried to rationalise the lynch mobbing and said that the incident was like that seeing close family member getting hurt or attacked, where one loses their sense of balance and anger gets the better of people.
He was responding to the recent mob lynching of a Muslim man accused of having beef in his fridge.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar says that his statement is twisted in Muslims Beef issue and added that, he never said Muslims to quit India.
Talking to a media, the PM described the lynching of a man in Dadri and cancellation of a concert by Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali in Mumbai as unfortunate. Khattar ka khattar mann hai. Evidently anyone who is unwilling to go by what Khattar declares as manyata, is not allowed to remain in the country. “India is as much of Muslims as it is of others”, said NCP’s Nawab Malik. He is playing politics with religion.
The Congress, too, did not miss any opportunity to hit out at the BJP chief minister. “It is written nowhere that Muslims have to eat beef, not is it written anywhere in Christianity that they have to eat beef”, he said. Do they live on him? A reminder: It would be just about impossible for the BJP to claim this is a fringe point of view, unless the party insists Khattar resign right away and apologises for not realising how bigoted he was. “Muslims don’t live on Khattar’s sympathy that he will say and they will move out”.
