Khloe Kardashian offends with Bantu knot hairstyle
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star put on some extra weight when she was carrying her second child, Saint West, but it seems that she is so close to getting back to her goal weight. Kim, 35, marveled at how much weight she lost in a pic she posted to Snapchat on August 10.
Khloe Kardashian is coming under fire-and following in the footsteps of sister Kylie Jenner-for “appropriating” a black hairstyle in a viral social media post.
The reality star shared a glimpse of one of her gruelling exercise sessions on Snapchat in June.
“When u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention toward your wigs instead of police brutality or racism”, Stenberg said. “Wait. No talent. Do some Armenian hairstyles to your head”, another user wrote under Kardashian’s Instagram post.
She captioned the photo “Bantu babe”, but was forced to remove it after commentators began pointing out that Khloe appropriated the traditionally African hairstyle.
According to a report via Us Weekly, Bantu knots first originated from South African Zulu tribes.
This style is formed when your hair is twisted around itself until it forms a knot that resembles a stack of tires. I wear just the jacket, but I have worn both before.
Kardashian’s half-sister, Kylie Jenner, is also receiving her share of backlash this afternoon for sharing a photo of her wearing bright red cornrows for her 19th birthday. Actress Amandla Stenberg had called out Jenner past year for wearing the traditional African style.
Khloe Kardashian hasn’t yet responded to the controversy over her latest hairstyle. And Kardashian learned little from the backlash Scott Disick received for his offensive “Arab Sheik” costume on a past episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
It’s nice to see that someone like Kim Kardashian still knows that the best way to celebrate a good outfit is with an old fashioned mirror selfie!
