Kid Rock publicist: Confederate flag display ended years ago
By The Associated Press on July 16, 2015.
After controversy over Kid Rock’s association with the Confederate flag and his summer tour sponsor, a meeting was held Thursday.
General Motors said they have no plans to meet with Kid Rock to discuss his flag use and won’t be issuing any rules governing his use of the symbol either.
“Chevrolet plans to continue its sponsorship of Kid Rock’s summer concert series”.
Both the parties have been in discussions recently over Kid Rock, who has been criticized in the past for displaying the rebel battle flag during performances.
According to the fake story, this happened after Nugent saw that Kid Rock had invited anyone protesting his use of the flag at his concerts to “kiss my ass”, and reached out to express his support via text message.
“It was our understanding that Kid Rock had used the flag, is using the flag and has tried to defend that flag”, said the group’s Rev. Charles Williams II on Wednesday.
Last week, Kid Rock emphatically dismissed critics’ concerns. The man charged in the shooting is shown in pictures with the flag.
Williams said the group still is awaiting a response from the musician. It’s not clear if he still displays the flag during his concerts.
The flag was removed last week from the South Carolina Statehouse.
The museum released this statement: “The lab explores Detroit’s rich musical legacy and the worldwide impact made by Detroiters in every genre of music, including pop, rock, gospel, blues, hip-hop, techno and more”.
“When you get a text from the Nuge, you know you’ve done something right”, Kid Rock told WWJ Newsradio 950 [via Blabbermouth]. He counts as his biggest hits, “Picture”, “All Summer Long”, “Bawitdaba” and “Born Free”.
Stern notes that Rock hadn’t used the flag as part of his concerts for “more than a year” before he received a Great Expectations Award from Detroit’s chapter of the NAACP in May 2011.
