‘Kid’ Yamamoto vs. Matt Hobar scrapped for UFC Fight Night in Japan
A late change has been made to this weekend’s UFC Fight Night card from Japan after injuries forced both Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto and his opponent Matt Hobar to forgo their bout scheduled for Saturday night.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is bringing its brand of mixed martial arts (MMA) back to Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, this Saturday night (Sept. 26, 2015) LIVE on FOX Sports 1, with select “Prelims” on FOX Sports 2 and UFC Fight Pass.
Below is everything you need to know about the fighters for the evening, plus the tale of the tape and a full statistcial breakdown of the competitiors and event. Prior to that loss, Barnett had earned a somewhat surprising knockout-win over fellow veteran Frank Mir in his first UFC fight since March of 2002. The loss was just Barnett’s second since 2006. Riddled with injuries following his 2011 Octagon debut, Yamamoto has since fought a mere four times, losing three and having the fourth ruled a no-contest due to an accidental eye poke. A victory over Barnett may stop Nelson’s free-fall and possibly extend his time in the UFC, but it’s clear that Big Country won’t last much longer unless he turns things around very soon.
The co-main event features a middleweight match-up between former Strikeforce titleholder Gegard Mousasi and TUF alum Uriah Hall. A featherweight bout between Diego Brandao and Katsunori Kikuno has been moved from the Fox Sports 2 Preliminary Card to the main card.
