Kidambi Srikanth storms into final of Indonesian Masters
Indian top seed Kidambi Srikanth reaches the final of the men’s singles at the Indonesian Masters in Malang on Saturday.
The 22-year-old from Guntur, who had defeated China’s Qiao Bin 21-12, 21-15 on Thursday, will take on Indonesia’s Ginting Anthony.
The two-time bronze medallist at World Championships, Sindhu next takes on the victor of the match between seventh seed Jang Mi Lee and China’s He Bingjiao at the Gedung Graha Cakrawala on Friday.
Meanwhile, women’s singles top seed P.V. Sindhu beat local girl Wulan Cahya Utami Sukoputri 21-12, 21-9 in 24 minutes to proceed to the quarter-finals. The Indian opened up 6-0 and 5-0 lead in the first and second games, respectively and marched ahead without much ado to seal a semifinal place. Carrying on the momentum into the second game, Bingjiao went on to close out the game at 21-13, thus knocking Sindhu out of the tournament.
