Kidnappers demand €1m for wealthy businessman’s young daughter
Anneli-Marie R. went missing in the countryside close to her home near the city of Meissen while walking her dog, which was found the same evening.
Police believe the kidnappers may have lost their nerve after he was freed a day later, with no ransom paid.
Police announced Monday that negotiations had broken down and later that night, authorities found her body in an abandoned farm in the village of Klipphausen, around 10 miles away from her hometown.
The teen’s distraught parents begged for her safe return and pledged to pay her abductors whatever they wanted.
“All of our hopes and prayers were not answered”, Dresden police spokesman Dieter Kroll said.
Two men have since been arrested in connection with Anneli’s murder.
Police have arrested two suspects, aged 39 and 61, officials said earlier on Tuesday.
Anneli – whose full name has not been released – left her home at 7.30pm on Thursday 13 August with her pet dog and bicycle.
Police used sniffer dogs and a heat-seeking helicopter to detect where the body was concealed.
Her bike was later found in a ditch and the dog was found alive in a field on Monday afternoon.
In an emotional letter released by police before the body was found, the girl’s parents addressed their daughter directly and said: “Anneli, we miss you”.
In June in Germany gangsters kidnapped the handicapped elderly son of Reinhold Wuerth, a billionaire industrialist, demanding £1.5 million. “The kidnappers should know that we will fulfill the indicated demands to be able to hug our child soon”.
