Kieran Gibbs confident Arsenal will push on despite draw with Tottenham
Eight fans were arrested during Sunday’s north London derby between Barclays Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham and six were later charged, police have confirmed.
Eventually, after a Spurs-dominated 20 minutes, Gibbs came on as a substitute to equalise from a swinging cross delivered by Mesut Ozil.
Speaking about the former Schalke and Wereder Bremen player after the game to the club’s official website, Arsene Wenger said, “He was outstanding again”, the manager told Arsenal Player.
People have been left speculating over the reason for Cazorla’s poor display but speaking to Arsenal.com after the game, Wenger revealed that the midfielder was affected by a mysterious dizzy spell but the Arsenal boss is confident it’s nothing serious.
“Tottenham were fabulous for the largest part of that game, they bossed the midfield and I think the turning point for Arsenal was bringing Flamini on”.
“We were a bit unlucky because Cazorla was not himself in the first half, so I changed him at half-time”. It was the England left-back’s first league goal since March 2012 and took Arsenal back level with leaders Manchester City, who top the table on goal difference.
Speaking on talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show, Friedel said: “I tip Tottenham to get into the top four this season, and that’s not because of my allegiance to them – I really believe in what Mauricio Pochettino is doing there”.
“It just shows you that the championship will be extremely hard for everybody and that the mental qualities can have a big influence in the future”. “In these games you can never give up. I’ve been coming on, and looking across the bench, even though I’m a defender, I’m one of the more offensive players”.
Ozil is also the first player to reach double figures when it comes to assists this season and has 26 more games to break Henry’s record for the most assists in a campaign – the Frenchman set up 20 goals in the 2002/03 season.
Gibbs got the better of Kyle Walker and poked an outstretched leg to steer the cross goalwards, and Lloris could not keep the ball out as he collided with the far post.
Tottenham are in excellent form at the moment, but it’s safe to say that outplaying Arsenal at the Emirates isn’t exactly something they’ve made a habit of through the years.
Arsenal burst into life and looked the more threatening in the final 10 minutes, but Spurs held on to record an identical score to their result at the Emirates last season.
