Killed, More Than a Dozen Injured in Texas Bus Crash
The vehicle had crashed into a barrier in Arlington before it stopped.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, Arlington Police spokesman Lieutenant Christopher Cook said. While most of the injuries were minor, at least one person was taken to the hospital via air ambulance, officials said.
There were 41 passengers aboard the Amarillo-bound bus when it collided with the vehicle that had come to a halt in the passing lane around 5:35 a.m. The other person in the SUV was flown to a local hospital with serious injuries, police said.
According to Matt Zavadsky with MedStar, there were 42 people on board the bus and 2 people in the other vehicle. A 911 caller reported that the SUV was traveling westbound and “exhibiting erratic driving behavior and swerving”, police said.
While officers were responding, we received a secondary collision call that a Greyhound bus traveling westbound had struck the disabled SUV in the main lanes of I.H. 30.
Gipson said another bus picked up the remaining passengers to take them on to Amarillo.
