Kim Jong Un calls meeting on abuses in North Korea ruling party
The propaganda battle between North and South Korea is getting even dirtier.
The South turned on high-powered loudspeakers to blare pop songs and harsh criticism of the North’s leader, Kim Jong Un, across the border.
Some of the timers failed to function, however, and the airborne cargo crashed onto rooftops and cars in South Korean villages near the border. South Korean President Park Geun-hye termed Sunday’s launch an unforgivable act of provocation. North Korea, who has referred to South Korea as the land of “political filth,”then began sending over balloons filled with leaflets and trash”.
“We can confirm that they included cigarette butts”, Kim Hak-young, a chief superintendent of the police, said Thursday, although he declined to provide any details.
North Korea has been under United Nations sanctions since its first nuclear test in 2006.
The celebrations came one day after the country launched a long-range rocket carrying what North Korea has claims was a satellite.
“We reaffirm our ironclad commitment to the defense of our allies, including the Republic of Korea [South Korea] and Japan”, Kerry added.
North Korea’s National Aerospace Development Administration called the launch “an epochal event in developing the country’s science, technology, economy and defense capability by legitimately exercising the right to use space for independent and peaceful purposes”. In fact, the UN Security Council had been trying to finalize a package of sanctions against North Korea for conducting nuclear test. It makes us wonder what was its leader Kim Jong-un thinking launching this rocket defying worldwide condemnations?
For the past 50 years, the world has grown used to insane threats from North Korea that don’t lead anywhere.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin summoned the South Korean ambassador to China, Kim Jang-soo, and lodged representations to Kim over the decision, China’s foreign ministry said in a brief statement.
