Kim Zolciak explains heart condition that caused mini-stroke and current
Kim Zolciak-Biermann has revealed she has been diagnosed with a heart condition following her recent hospitalization for a mini-stroke.
“The minor TIA [transient ischemic attack] revealed that I have a PFO [patent foramen ovale], a hole in my heart that never closed”, the mother-of-six revealed on Good Morning America earlier today. The reality star said the hole “basically” caused her stroke, noting her blood clot “was able to cross over through the hole, whereas most people don’t have that and it’s not able to do that”.
Constant air travel and a heavy schedule with Dancing with the Stars may have played a role in causing the stroke, though Zolciak is thankful it did not happen during the birth of her twins or when she was on the table receiving her “mommy makeover” plastic surgery.
Still, she isn’t spending much time worrying about what other people think. She looks terrific, you know, and by the way, the reality show is cute … but, Kim, my thought is, um, I hope you’re not fibbing about the stroke”, Wendy Williams questioned on her show, according to Hollywood Life, adding, “Kim, at 37-years-old, if you did have a mini stroke, I’m sorry to hear about that.
“I don’t care”, she gushed.
Although Zolciak is no longer in the run to win the Mirror Ball trophy, Dovolani’s partner will return to the ballroom floor during the show’s Season 21 finale.
About the mini stroke, Kim shared, “It was a blessing in disguise”. When asked about speculation that she was faking her injury, she shook her head. While the doctors had given her clearance to dance, they didn’t want her flying.
“It literally happened in a second and my whole life changed”.
‘I was able to dance, I just couldn’t fly, ‘ Kim said of the situation. Since then, Kim has started a petition to get her back and has tried to convince the lawyers that she should be exempt from the rules. “I’m not sure what they’re going to have me doing”, she said. “They’ve made exceptions in the past for people who couldn’t dance at the actual show”.
