Kimmel wins the prize as cheeky, easygoing Emmy host

Bush appeared in the vignette dressed as a limo driver hailed by Kimmel as he frantically sought a ride to the annual television awards show in downtown Los Angeles. After a smoke bomb went off in their auto, he tried to get a ride from a limo that carried Julia Louis-Dreyfus in her Veep character as President Selina Meyer. But he’s back-exclamation point and all! The perennial victor for her role as the Dowager Countess on “Downton Abbey” seldom shows up for the ceremony, and Kimmel threatened her with a total revocation of her awards if she fails to come personally collect them.

The Emmy’s avoided an #oscarssowhite controversy and they were more than happy to mention it. Kimmel said, “Fortunately, there are more roles and more diversity than ever before”.

Comedian John Oliver, who won an Emmy for outstanding variety series for “Last Week Tonight“, promoted humor in the current political climate as much-needed.

To add more salt to his wound Matt Damon made his entrance with a lot of audience cheering for him.

“This is so humiliating”, Damon continued as Kimmel got more and more agitated. “You lost and now you gotta stand out here for the rest of the night when you probably want to just go home, curl up and cry”. “Oh hey Jimmy, tell your mom I like them apples”, he said.

Kimmel’s one bit that fell flat was when he introduced “four-time Emmy victor, Dr. Bill Cosby”. Kimmel said, “Don’t worry, he’s not really here”.

Finally he took his leave with the parting words, “I’ll see you later at the after party”.
