Kings plan to make Calipari offer
With the Sacramento Kings off to a poor start and rumors swirling about tensions within the locker room at times, it appears that head coach George Karl may be on the hot seat once again.
They’ve simply been one of the NBA’s worst franchises over that span, and team owner Vivek Ranadivé is desperate to make his franchise a victor, or at least something better than what he’s seen for much of the last decade. A couple of interesting names could be in line when that happens: current Kentucky coach John Calipari and current Kings assistant Nancy Lieberman.
But Ranadivé’s biggest dream is to have Kentucky coach John Calipari come out and coach this roster full of Kentucky players. Though George Karl is still the team’s head coach, there’s been rampant speculation and rumors he’ll be fired soon and his replacement is already being sought.
They have had plenty of issues since that they still believe can be worked out but despite that the reports say that it is still a matter of when, not if, Karl will be fired.
If the report of Ranadivé looking to make a run at Calipari is true, given what the head coach now has at his disposal the offer he “cannot refuse” better be a good one. They just need to figure out how to get it down, which is something Kings owner Vivek Ranadive is working on. Bucher says that the question is when, not if, Sacramento makes a change.
In addition to Cousins, one of Calipari’s other young talents, Willie Caulie-Stein, also plays for the Kings. How would Ranadivé possibly replace her with Calipari.
And even if the “offer he simply can not refuse” were to include a few extravagant perks, he’s got a damn good job in Lexington, Kentucky.
