Kings void Luc Mbah a Moute’s contract
Luc Mbah a Moute’s move to the Sacramento Kings was nixed on Thursday after the Cameroonian forward failed his physical exam.
Last season, a Philadelphia 76ers five-man lineup featuring Mbah a Moute surrendered a staggeringly-low 86.0 points per 100 possessions – easily the * a href=”http://stats.nba.com/league/lineups/#!/advanced/?sort=DEF_RATING&dir=-1&CF=MIN*GE*100″ *best mark in the League (min. 100 minutes played) and almost nine points lower than the defensive rating of the Golden State Warriors’ starting unit (94.8).
The Kings acquired Mbah a Moute from Milwaukee in the summer of 2013, but they traded him to Minnesota for Derrick Williams less than a month into the season. However, there isn’t any information on what may have caused Mbah a Moute to fail his physical, but his ailing shoulder could be one possibility. Terms of Mbah a Moute’s contract were not immediately known. They have used this offseason to add wing depth by re-signing Omri Casspi and signing Marco Belinelli and Caron Butler. He’s a career 6.8 points per game guy.
Casspi, who featured for the Kings last campaign, has signed with the franchise on a two-year contract thought to be worth around $6m (£3.8m).
This was going to be just a one-year, veteran minimum deal.
Outside of a trade, there are few options left in free agency for Sacramento to fill the void.
