Kirti Azad, Bishan Singh Bedi to suffer disciplinary measures from DDCA
BJP MP Kirti Azad said on Wednesday that it was unfortunate he had been suspended by his party for “speaking the truth” about corruption in Delhi’s cricket body.
Azad had sought the intervention of the “margdarshak mandal”, comprising Advani, Joshi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh, which was formed by BJP president Amit Shah after he took over the party reins. “I supported d (the) Govt. stand in Parliament & wish to inform my party BJP spokespersons that no one can speak w/o (without) Speaker’s permission”, he said in another tweet. He said his allegations were not against any individual and asked what wrong he’d done by raising the issue of corruption.
Party sources said he has been accused of colluding with opposition parties, including the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress with the sole objective of embarrassing the party and its office bearers. I did not say anything against anyone personally. The party took care not to spell out what exactly Azad did that amounted to “anti-party” activity.
“But politics should not stoop to this level which is unhealthy for the country”, he said Chhina also lashed out at Kirti Azad”. Azad said that he was not in hurry to reply to the party’s show cause notice. “Instead of questioning Jaitley, they suspend Azad”.
“I am an MP; I raised some concerns and I have been suspended”.
In a veiled warning that in-house dissenters, including Shatrughan Sinha, may face Azad’s fate, Jaitley hinted on his blog, “Stray thoughts after winter session”, that disciplinary action was initiated against the former cricketer for his refusal to mend ways despite warning. “I request you to kindly provide me at the earliest, instances and proof that I have indulged in anti-party activities so that I can clear the air and provide you with answers to your satisfaction”, he wrote. Last Monday, a day after Azad addressed a press conference regarding corruption in the DDCA, which was headed by Jaitley till 2013, he embarrassed the BJP in the Parliament by demanding a time-bound SIT probe into the allegations, while the Congress pressed for Jaitley’s resignation.
He has now signalled with his letter that he remains a loyal party soldier who has taken his complaint to the party’s top leaders, instead of going to the four veterans, who had challenged the leadership over the BJP’s poor performance in the Bihar election.
