Klay goes for All-Star 3s upset of Curry
Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors defeated teammate Stephen Curry to win the 3-point contest on All-Star Saturday night.
According to Warriors All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson, even the legendarily competitive linchpin of that unbelievable Chicago squad is on-board with the idea of Golden State taking its place at the head of the NBA’s history books. Bovada listed Thompson as the second choice at 9 to 2, and he’s looking forward to another chance at the NBA’s record holder for 3-pointers in a season.
IF NOT A SPLASH BROTHER: The Warriors’ backcourt partners face a field that includes two more All-Stars in Houston’s James Harden and Toronto’s James Harden, plus the Clippers’ J.J. Redick, Milwaukee’s Khris Middleton, Phoenix rookie Devin Booker and Portland’s CJ McCollum. “I’ve never even tried half of them”.
“He’s the best shooter I’ve ever seen, so this is a rare occurrence that he loses”, Thompson said of Curry “So I’m just happy I caught him on an off night”.
“This is how I know how to play the game, and I work at it and try to take my game to the next level every single year and get better”, Curry said.
“To be back here and celebrate an All-Star game is special”, Curry said on Friday.
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry (30), forward Draymond Green (23), and guard Klay Thompson (11).
There were a handful of teams that were projected to have much better years than they are having so far, but on the other hand, there are a few that have played better than expected and put themselves in a position to make a playoff appearance.
Green had four points and five rebounds in playing only 12 minutes in his All-Star debut.
Bryant went out a victor, compiling 10 points, seven assists and six rebounds to help the West post a 196-173 victory over the East. The total points were an All-Star Game record. She’s the adorable girl who won the hearts of many when she stole the show at her dad’s post-game press conferences when the Warriors were on their way to the National Basketball Association title last season.
“Everybody thinks that? Oh, wow”, Thompson said.
Kobe Bryant also picked Curry when asked. Towns, the first pick in the 2015 draft, bested Boston Celtics All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas, the last pick of the 2011 draft. “I still think I can hold my own in the competition, but the way that he finished off that second round was incredible”.
Curry said this 3-point contest, his fourth, was his last. Silver said that could result in a flagrant foul. Have a tip? Email him at devine@yahoo-inc.com or follow him on Twitter!
He is not going to take part in Saturday’s 3-point contest or Sunday’s game, dropping out Friday out of concern for making the calf worse.
