Klitschko wants rematch with Fury
But Fury was ready to score an upset and outlanded Klitschko in their fight, which took place at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany last Saturday.
Klitschko has taken up the rematch clause contract in the original fight and insists he will prove he is better than he showed in losing to Fury on Saturday.
Bernd Bronte, chief executive of Klitschko Management Group, said: “There will be a huge worldwide interest in this fight which already can be billed as the fight of the year 2016”.
“I received many messages over these last few days”.
“I am better than that performance and want the world to see the real me”. “I want him to have a rematch and do it convincingly this time”.
“I had good information off good resources not to touch anything in the changing rooms because they might try and drug you”, ESPN quote Fury as saying.
Klitschko says the desire to prove a point is behind his decision to take up his option on an immediate rematch with the new champion.
“I’ve got to fight someone in January and after that fight I would love to have a unification bout – and guess what, I wouldn’t mind coming to the United Kingdom for that one”, he told BBC Radio 5 live.
Klitschko wants a rematch after an embarrassing showing where he hardly landed a punch.
“I went home dehydrated before I even touched anything, I was so frightened of being drug-tested and failing the drugs test”, he said, recounting the events leading to the bout over the weekend.
Peter Fury suggested holding the new fight in England, possibly at Wembley Stadium. “It is still early and I have to process things but there will definitely be a rematch”, the former champion said, according to the report.
In the same interview, Fury also says, “I knew all along I could win the fight”.
Fury said on Sky Sports News: “I think it’s fantastic news”.
“I’m quite confident the fight can be a mega fight here in the United Kingdom and I’m hopeful the fight can end up here”.
Peter Fury, the champion’s trainer and uncle, welcomed Klitschko’s declaration.
