KLM launches Apple Watch App
Apple today released a new series of Apple Watch commercials on its YouTube channel, depicting the Apple Watch being used in a number of ways in the daily lives of the people featured in the videos. The KLM Apple Watch app offers passengers relevant services on the day of departure, including information such as the remaining time before departure, the boarding pass and possible changes related to flight information. For the other platforms, the app will connect to any existing device that’s already streaming Hulu.
Apple have yet to make comment on these claims.
Whether or not Hulu viewers actually do want a remote control on their wrist remains to be seen.
What’s cool, though, is that the app was made by an intern, Rahin Jegarajaratnam, on Hulu’s mobile team. One woman uses the sketch tool in the Apple Watch to write “SOS” to let her friend know she needs help getting out of a conversation with a guy she isn’t interested in.
You can also toggle captions with the Watch-enabled Hulu app, which is pretty great, I suppose.
The ads, entitled “Beijing”, “Berlin”, “Goals” and “Closer”, also have an worldwide flavor, important since Apple is slowly releasing the smartwatch around the globe throughout the rest of this year.
A question I consistently hear while wearing my watch out and about revolves around what can it do differently from an iPhone? It could then push notifications about what to watch based on what content is about to expire, or what new episode has just arrived from a favorite show. So, I guess there’s that.
