Klopp – I will address Sakho situation
Mamadou Sakho’s Liverpool career is at the point of no return as Jurgen Klopp insisted the outcome to an investigation into the defender’s social media outburst would “not be positive”.
France worldwide Sakho has not featured for the club since last April and was sent home from the club’s pre-season tour for his poor attitude and time keeping and his relationship with Klopp is set to become more strained after some ill-advised snapchat messages early on Saturday morning.
The French defender, who has not played since April, was absent from the squad again as Liverpool trounced Hull City 5-1 at Anfield, with Ragnar Klavan chosen instead of Sakho to replace Dejan Lovren who was absent with a virus.
On his Snapchat story, which has since been deleted, Sakho reportedly said: “Now it’s 3 weeks I am fit to play games”. Still not talking cause I want to speak on the pitch.
“It’s not positive, I would say”.
“I think I address the situation when it’s the right moment, and I didn’t decide when that is – it’s not Christmas”. The Frenchman arrived late to meet up with his team-mates to depart on tour, while he then interrupted an interview Klopp was giving on arrival in the United States. “They don’t want me to play with segonde (segondo, U23s) team lol”, Sakho was quoted as saying by the Echo.
The result means Hull have now lost three of their last four league games but acting manager Mike Phelan was not prepared to criticise his team in the middle of a testing run which continues with a home game against Chelsea next weekend.
“It is not about how the player feels, it is about close I feel he is. Why I don’t know”, Sakho wrote on Snapchat.
“Liverpool are flying. You can see their mentality is good”. I am ready and willing. “He took the situation [being dropped] brilliantly and is in a really good moment”.
