Klopp’s on Merseyside as Liverpool deal is all but confirmed
Jurgen Klopp has been appointed manager of Liverpool on a deal worth £15m after the saga to replace Rodgers finally ended.
Although Klopp left BVB in the summer, Dortmund clearly hold their ex-manager in high esteem after posting a brilliant Beatles-themed message on Twitter after news of his appointment broke.
Following the sacking of Brendan Rodgers following last weekend’s derby draw at Everton, former Borussia Dortmund boss Klopp is expected to be unveiled as the Northern Irishman’s replacement on Friday morning.
Klopp’s first game in charge will be away to Tottenham in the Premier League on October 17.
The 48-year-old’s appointment comes following a whirlwind week that started with the abrupt conclusion of Rodgers’ disappointing reign and ends with the significant coup of securing one of Europe’s most highly rated managers.
He labelled his charismatic compatriot as “fantastic” as said that Klopp is “one of the best coaches in the whole world” after his spectacular seven-year spell at Dortmund, which he called a “milestone” in the club’s history. It’s our job that they can forget their problems for 90 minutes and then they can talk about the game, about the next game and that’s how I want to live.
But in 2010-11 everything came together and Dortmund won their first Bundesliga title in almost a decade, setting team records with 23 wins and 75 points on the table.
Jurgen Klopp will fulfil Liverpool owners’ Fenway Sports Group’s expectations to get better results out of the current squad, according to former midfielder Dietmar Hamann.
“My teams must play at full throttle and take it to the limit every time”.
Klopp is a welcome addition to the pantheon of Liverpool managers, but how does he compare to Rodgers? It’s very important that the player can understand easily what you want.
“Liverpool has extraordinary supporters and Anfield is a world-renowned home, with an incredible atmosphere”.
Liverpool also confirmed that Zeljko Buvac, Klopp’s assistant both at Borussia Dortmund and Mainz, and Peter Krawietz will join the new-look coaching staff. If anyone asks me about my faith, I give information.
“I am hoping that Jurgen Klopp will give me the same support and backing as we’ve had”.
