Klopp warns Sakho over Reds return
Emre Can will not be in contention as Liverpool welcome Premier League champions Leicester to Anfield on Saturday for the first fixture in front of the new Main Stand at Anfield.
This is unfortunate news as Klavan has hit the ground running at Anfield, and, statistically, the Estonian is the Reds’ second most effective defender (pre-season and competitive games). Liverpool had told the French worldwide defender that it was in his best interests to find a temporary club for the season, in order to get fit and recover from a turbulent few months mentally for the 26-year-old.
“It is not a problem”.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that centre-back Mamadou Sakho does not need to gain his trust despite reports that he would be “banished” from the side by the German.
Unless, of course, he plays at left-back, as he has many times for Augsburg and Estonia.
“He couldn’t play football for a long time”, added Klopp.
“You have to speak about it before the window closes because that’s the moment you can make decisions and that’s what I did”.
“It was well deserved what they achieved last season and they’re still good. I am not silly enough to forget good performances but the rest we see”.
His ability to play all across the attack is very useful as well and he’s quickly developing a great understanding with Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho in Liverpool’s attack. “But at the end, Mama knows and I know from my side, that’s enough”.
“We did not isolate him [Balotelli]”, Klopp said.
“That is part of the business I am not interested in”.
“He can say what he wants….it’s a free world”.
Leicester City’s Islam Slimani could make his Premier League debut against Liverpool on Saturday (10 September).
The structure, with nearly 21,000 seats, will take Anfield’s capacity to just over 54,000 and even Klopp is impressed. “He had a bone bruise and a little rip, not too deep, around the knee”, said Klopp.
According to the Echo, the sign was put back in its rightful place just before Klopp and the team visited Anfield for the first time since last season. I have no idea how someone could do something like this.
‘I have no idea how somebody could do something like this but when you stand in front of it, it’s really unbelievable. There are big characters in the dressing room and we have a very good group of players so I don’t see it as reliant on me, or I have to replace Stevie or I have to do this or that.
