Klopp won’t rule out future Liverpool return for Gerrard
A hard working Liverpool side proved too much for the Premier League’s surprise package Leicester, who went down 1-0 at Anfield.
“It’s a special period because you have Christmas and New Year and a lot of games coming up”. We lost Mama when he was in flawless shape and he came back when of course he had problems; it was not easy for him to come back in.
“Daniel is still doing his little pre-season, his intensive training, and he will do this for seven, eight, nine or 10 days and then we will see what happens then”, said the Reds boss. “We have to try to put that quality together”.
“But they’ve had no break for one year. We have to start better, be aware of Leicester’s counter-attacks and create a good position to deal with them, a flexible position”.
Grujic is in line to become the first signing of the Klopp era after Liverpool agreed a £5m fee with the Serbian league leaders last week.
The Anfield outfit are in the race to make it to the top four in order to qualify for next season’s Champions League. What line-up would you like to see start?
“We need more battlers because we’re getting out-fought”.
However, he was never destined to play at the top level of the Bundesliga and when he retired in his early 30s, he admitted: “I had no money”.
“I have big respect for (Leicester manager) Claudio (Ranieri) and the whole squad of Leicester”.
He will be without defender Martin Skrtel (hamstring) and James Milner (calf) for the clash with Leicester, although goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and defender Dejan Lovren are back.
The Merseyside outfit have dropped to ninth place in the Premier League table following a 3-0 defeat by promoted side Watford at Vicarage Road last weekend.
Klopp added: “I would like to change centre-backs (more) because of the number of games, because we want to not because we have to”.
It’s fair to say football fans have a tendency to let their emotions run away with them from time to time, and it’s not always necessarily a bad thing, but the rollercoaster ride that Jurgen Klopp’s reputation is now on is a case in point.
Key fixtures Skrtel will miss include a Premier League showdown with Manchester United and the League Cup semi-final against Stoke City.
