Klopp won´t rush back Sturridge
The £32.5million summer signing’s lack of movement has been criticised as it does not fit in with his manager’s all-action, high-tempo tactics.
“I think like any striker you need a few games but we have a great squad and it is hard to play every game”. Now you look good, so you can play!’
“We need the striker for the other options too, to work for the other minutes”.
“We didn’t start to play until late on”.
Ranieri admitted he was mindful not to burn them out with City next up with many more challenges to come.
“On a sidenote I’m back training and good to go!!”.
“With him, last week and this week are most intensive weeks in training for Daniel Sturridge in the last three years”.
“Benteke did really well in the last week in training but we decided on this starting line-up because of the things you saw from Divock in the first half-hour – we needed his speed”. I have to learn and I have to understand what he wants from me.
“I think Vardy will be okay”.
“I can not say too much about Divock because at this moment I don’t have the results of the scan, so we have to wait a few more minutes because the press conference is a little bit too early for this information”, Klopp said at Melwood on Monday.
“We had these problems against Palace, West Brom, Watford and not against Leicester, because we reacted and we were really satisfied”.
It’s easy to see what Klopp means when analysing Benteke’s performance against Leicester in closer detail.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on Dejan Lovren by insisting he is not surprised by the defender’s form.
“You have been here longer than me; I didn’t know the word before I came to England, but “hamstring” is the worst word of the year for me. It is part of football”, he said.
The Belgium international’s strike at Anfield ended the home side’s four-game run without a win as they became the first team in the top flight to keep a clean sheet against Leicester this season.
“At the end a striker has to make goals, I know this, everybody knows this”.
However, Klopp, who inherited the powerhouse frontman from predecessor Brendan Rodgers, is looking to provide the right support to help Benteke fulfil his potential.
