Knee injury to keep striker Wilson out for six months
“We know what is in the past with Bournemouth”, Flores told the club’s weekend preview show. Bournemouth likewise, would want to maintain their decent start to the league and will look to go into the worldwide break with a win on the board.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe admits that the Cherries’ game plan will have to change now that Callum Wilson is out for at least six months.
Watford midfielder Valon Behrami is serving the last of a three-match ban for being sent off against Swansea last month while defender Joel Ekstrand is still sidelined with a knee injury. Joel Ekstrand is still no closer to making a return from a long-term injury, but the doubtful Lloyd Doyley might be able to make a late push in order to give Flores something to think about at the back.
“Watford lost 2-0 at this stadium last season and drew at home so we will find a tough team”, the manager said ahead of the trip to the Vitality Stadium.
“I watched their last two matches and we have lots of information (on Bournemouth) from a year ago”.
Watford have posted the lowest chance conversion rate in the top-flight this season (7.9% – five goals from 63 shots). But the players who have stepped in have done well so far. Don’t get me wrong, he is a different type of player to Callum so we may have to adjust a little if he is the man to play up front in his absence.
It’s always an interesting spectacle to see a pair of newly promoted sides clash in the Premier League, and Saturday presents that opportunity as Bournemouth host Watford at Dean Court.
The club has won just one of their last four Premier League fixtures, but three of their four defeats have been by a single goal, which is a small consolation that can be taken by Howe to know that his team is staying competitive and not being completely outclassed on the pitch. We have a number of quality of players in our squad and I am sure we will only get better.
“I am disappointed for him but if I can lead out the team and help us get a few good results then great”.
This could be a cracker of a game but Watford are likely to edge this one.
