Knicks preparing to add Jimmer Fredette
The league scouts are still concerned with Jimmer’s defense. Fredette is expected to sign just a 10-day contract with NY, however, so his time spent with the team is to be determined. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal was not yet finalized.
The Knicks plan to sign guard Jimmer Fredette from the team’s D-League affiliate, according to multiple reports.
Jimmer Fredette has been called up by the New York Knicks from their D-League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks, according to a report from ESPN’s Ian Begley. In 28 games Fredette was averaging 22.3 points, 4.8 apg and hitting more than 40 percent of his threes.
He scored 35 points in that game and also took second in the 3-point shootout. Fredette played 50 games with the New Orleans Pelicans last season and was with the Pelicans for four games earlier this season.
The No. 10 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, Fredette has bounced around the NBA, unable to find a home. In 233 career National Basketball Association games, he has averaged 6.0 points and 1.4 assists. “I’m looking for a role where I can be a guy that can come off the bench and provide a spark, play consistently well and score the ball on a nightly basis and see what that turns into”, Fredette said.
The Knicks (23-32) now have 14 players under contract, so they do not have to make a corresponding roster move to add Fredette.
