Knicks worth $3 billion, NBA revenues at record high
The Warriors once again emerged as the top-selling team, followed by the Chicago Bulls at No. 2, the Cavaliers at No. 3, the Lakers at No. 4 and the Knicks at No. 5.
In 1994, the Knicks’ current ownership group purchased the storied franchise, along with the NHL’s New York Rangers, Madison Square Garden and the MSG Network (TV Station) for a sum of $1.1 billion.
Pacers’ owner Herb Simon was ranked the 7th most successful billionaire owner by Forbes thanks to a 5-year annualized return of 25.6%.
Porzingis’ impressive play is one of the main reasons the Knicks have already surpassed last season’s win total of 17 games at just the halfway point. Operating profits, in the sense of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, were an NBA-record $133 million last season by our count. Also of note was the new Nike/NBA apparel contract that pays the NBA a reportedly $1 billion dollars each year (which was $600 million greater than what Adidas was paying).
