Ko finishes third at Marathon Classic
Chella Choi isnt so sure shes ready to break up the team after winning the Marathon Classic on Sunday.
It was the first career victory for Choi, who claimed the title in a one hole playoff. Very exciting. I work with my father eight years and somebody say like that’s why I don’t win, just for my caddie.
Park settled for a one-under 70 for 274, where she was joined by Spain’s Azahara Munoz and American Angela Stanford.
Overall I missed a lot of putts today, Baek said.
“I ended up hyperextending my wrist and it’s hurt ever since”.
Choi earned $225,000. She will jump from 40th to 25th in the world ranking.
Choi and Jang, playing together in the final group, ended the regulation tied at 14-under 270.
Top-ranked Inbee Park and defending champion Lydia Ko, ranked second, were 4 under after 14 holes.
Gagne also had a 30-point day, making an eagle on the par-four 10th in a 67.
My caddie and I were actually talking before I teed off that I had not had a 4 or 5 under in a while, Kemp said. Seeing how average my first day score was, to be top five or whatever, I think its a good finish for the week.
“I’ve been hitting it pretty solid so I’ve been trying to give myself plenty of opportunities”, Ko said. I know it would have been great if I could continue that on the back nine, but it just wasnt going..
Jang’s third shot of the playoff landed in the rough, by the grandstand on the 18th hole, and her chip shot in an attempt to birdie landed well wide of the cup. I had a bad lie for the first chip, where I shouldnt have been in the first place..
However, she dropped a shot at the 13 and clawed one back on the par-five 17.
OPELIKA, Ala. – Australia’s Mark Hensby birdied three of the final four holes for a 7-under 64 and a share of the second-round lead at 9-under 133 in the inaugural Barbasol Championship.
Minjee Lee finished as the best of the Australians when she tied for 22nd.
