Kobe Bryant: I’m The 200th Best Player In The NBA Right Now
The Lakers play their first road game against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant shouldered loads of responsibilities during their 103-93 defeat to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night. Randle previously had 15 points and 11 rebounds in the opener against the Wolves and now he has a double-double in two of three games this season. For avid Kobe watchers, a stat that stands out isn’t those woeful shooting percentages – it’s that Bryant has taken just 51 shots (making 16) in the Lakers’ three games. He shot 37.3% FG in the 35 games he played last season, and in three games this season is at 31.4%.
But that garbage fire of a season landed them the second overall pick in this year’s draft, and on top of drafting D’Angelo Russell, the team added a slew of veterans over the offseason, including Brandon Bass, Roy Hibbert, and Lou Williams. “But it has to be done”.
This is surprising, given Kobe’s knack for taking over games throughout his entire career.
Once famed for being a consistent title contender for years, the Los Angeles Lakers now have three consecutive losses.
However Kobe had no immediate solution to his form as his coach Bryan Scott said that Kobe is disappointed with himself and wants to improve his shooting.
Bryant could be a 65-year-old coach in a wheelchair and I’m still giving him the ball in crunch time. “Just playing like [crap] right now”. “I think at times we relax, and you can’t do that no matter what”.
Will Kobe Bryant transition to mentor role for Lakers? When asked about his poor shooting, he didn’t put the blame on any injuries, fatigue, or poor shot selection.
“Maybe. Just playing like s- right now, that’s all”, Bryant said. “Sooner or later, they’ll get it. If not, then I will make changes”. I gotta do the responsible thing and make them for them.
LeBron’s respect for his fellow basketball deity is admirable, and he’s probably right that Kobe doesn’t actually think that he sucks.
With all of that said, if Bryant for a few reason continues on this outlandish path of underperformance, other players like Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle, D’Angelo Russell, and Nick Young are going to have to acquire a lot of the responsibility to create scoring opportunities for this struggling franchise.
“You’ve still got to respect him out there, period”. He seemed to struggle even in doing simple shots, and none of it impressed the Lakers star.
“He’s frustrated”, Scott said. “What I see is a challenge to himself”.
The hated rivals from across the country started their 2015 campaign with a 112-111 loss to the we’re-not-good-but-we’re-getting-there Minnesota Timberwolves. We were careless with the ball.
For a change, the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t allow 132 points.
