Koei Tecmo has made a statement regarding Dead or Alive Xtreme 3
It has been confirmed through an official statement released by Koei Tecmo Games that Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will not get a North American release.
This follows a controversy that developed after a representative for the company posted on Facebook that the decision was due to the issue of sexual exploitation being such a hot-button topic in the USA lately (following a series of attacks on women in the gaming industry), indicating that Koei Tecmo wanted to avoid drama.
Meanwhile, Koei Tecmo’s official European Twitter account seemed to support what was said on Facebook, and added that those who want an English version of the game should look into importing the Asian version, which features English subtitles.
Whether or not Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 never, ever comes to the West remains to be seen, but it’s unlikely to be the last conversation on a topic like this.
Koei Tecmo has now released an official statement to GameWatcher about the company’s intentions with DOA Xtreme 3. “But certainly we have gone through in a year ago or two to come to our decision”, the statement read.
“We remain focused on delivering the best in fighting entertainment to our fans around the world, while consciously respecting and strategising to support the different global audiences the DEAD OR ALIVE franchise lends itself to”.
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 launches on PS4 and Vita in Japan and Asia on February 25, 2016. “The issue exploded further when online importer Play-Asia blamed “#SJW”, or “social justice warriors”, for the game not coming West.
