Kompany blow as Man City frustrated by Leicester
Manuel Pellegrini said that Manchester City can win the title without Vincent Kompany and added that he hoped his captain’s many calf injuries are not putting his career under threat.
Mahrez, along with striker Jamie Vardy, has been the reason for Leicester’s success this season as now sit level on points with Arsenal- losing just twice this season, against the Gunners and Liverpool.
He has not ruled out the possibility of bolstering his resources to do just that – “as always”, he said, “we do not close the window, but we are not really thinking of bringing any special players in”. “I hope we are going to complete a very good second part to the season”.
Pablo Zabaleta could make his 200th Premier League appearance in this match and would become the third Argentine to reach this landmark after Carlos Tevez and Fabricio Coloccini.
He said: “We’ll try to do the same – as we’ve achieved 39 points then we’d like to achieve 40 points – one point more”.
He said: “Maybe we have to finish better and improve the amount of offensive moments we have”.
“We didn’t win at Arsenal but I don’t think we played a bad game”.
Manchester City’s Manuel Pellegrini says his squad is complete, ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Watford. They are well on course to qualify for the Champions League though, but we have seen Spurs bottling it in the second half of seasons, haven’t we? However, they must maintain their momentum in the second half of the season to upset the established order.
Pellegrini’s side have lost five games already and the City manager admits that loss of points may have been too great a handicap had their rivals in the title race not been equally inconsistent.
“I am not happy but not disappointed also because I think we played well but we couldn’t score”.
Manchester City are preparing for their English Premier League (EPL) match against Watford on Saturday. It’s not easy but we want to fight everybody.
Two teams, who have impressed at different stages of the campaign so far, square off at Vicarage Road on Saturday with a first win of 2016 on the line. It is because they have important players in a good moment and managers that are doing very well their job’.
“But sometimes it is not good also because we have a good team that are playing every game, so we are going to decide game by game”.
