Kraft announces recall of some 3-pound, 4-pound packages of cheese singles
The Kraft Heinz Company has issued a voluntary recall for more than 36,000 cases of Kraft Singles cheese slices due to a possible choking hazard.
A thin strip of the packaging film may stay on the cheese after the wrapper has been removed, the company said, which could lead to the hazard. The dates are also followed by the manufacturing codes S54 or S55.
Kraft Foods is voluntarily recalling about 36,000 cases of Kraft Singles individually-wrapped cheese slices.
There have been 10 consumer complaints to date about the packaging, including three reports of people choking. The manufacturing codes are stamped on both the 3-lb. and 4 lb. boxes and the enclosed individual 1-lb. packages. And no products with manufacturing codes other than “S54” and “S55” after the code date are included in this recall. The only varieties or codes included in the recall pertain to the single cheese slices.
Those customers who purchased the affected products are being urged to not eat them and return them to the store of purchase to receive a full refund, or exchange for a different product.
At this time, there have been no other products by Kraft identified to be at risk for choking or any other health concern.
