Kraft recalls 36000 cases of cheese over possible choking hazar
The Kraft Heinz Company KHC, +0.33% has voluntarily recalled 36,000 cases of Kraft Singles because they might make you choke.
According to Kraft, the singles are individually wrapped in a thin film – which “may remain adhered to the slice after the wrapper is removed”.
The affected products have a “best when used by” date of December 29, 2015 through January 4, 2016, along with certain manufacturing codes.
At this time, customers anxious about the risk can visit the FDA website for more information.
Kayla R Fortney is a reporter for WZZM. No products with manufacturing codes other than “S54” and “S55” after the code date are included in this recall. The only varieties or codes included in the recall pertain to the single cheese slices.
There have been 10 consumer complaints to date about the packaging, including three reports of consumers choking, Kraft says. Although the recall is voluntary, the Kraft Heinz Company is warning consumers to refrain from eating the cheese product, and to return the unused portion for a full refund. Consumers in Puerto Rico can also contact the company for a full refund at 1-800-432-3101, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.to 6 p.m. ET. Kraft Heinz did not ship this product to Canada or any other regions.
