Kristen Stewart takes “Twilight” co-star Taylor Lautner to “American Ultra”
It’s such a different role, some might wonder how it landed on Eisenberg’s doorstep.
Taylor Lautner supported former “Twilight” co-star Kristen Stewart at her movie premiere. Star Jesse Eisenberg’s performance rescues the whole thing as a paranoid stoner who unbeknownst to him has been possessed with the powers of an elite super killer.
The film was directed by Nima Nourizadeh (“Project X“) and written by Max Landis (“Chronicle” and the upcoming “Frankenstein”).
While Ant-Man and Fantastic Four debuted in theaters earlier this summer, this Tuesday saw a new kind of superhero at the premiere of American Ultra.
They attack, and Mike kills both of them with a soup spoon. Rather than trusting an actor (in this case Walton Goggins) to craft a memorable character, he’s burdened with a preposterous, comic book-like gimmick. To which Phoebe responds, rather flippantly, “That’s awesome”.
Kristen stars alongside Jesse Eisenberg in “American Ultra“. There are escalations (Connie Britton represents the only one in Langley, Virginia with a conscience) and reveals (turns out K-Stew isn’t sticking with Mike just because she likes the stench of bongwater). Well, we didn’t see that one coming!
The action-comedy could be interpreted as “the dream of a stoner”, Stewart added. “And so I just wasn’t sure”.
“I wish i got to do a little bit more fighting, but I have like 30 seconds in which I prove myself and my elbows prove to be like, you know. useful” says Kristen.
Part of the movie’s charm is that it leaves the audience baffled by what’s going on. He goes home every night to Phoebe (Stewart, terrific), who shows the dude unearned patience and sexual healing.
This is certainly giving us ALL the feels.
The 25-year-old beauty had the last laugh, however, when she became the first American actress to win a César Award (the French equivalent of an Oscar) for her performance in Clouds of Sils Maria. A lot probably depends on how the movie fares at the box office, but it’s looking like a hit at this point.
