Kristen Stewart to star as Chanel in Karl Lagerfeld’s short film
The film will be premiering on at the 12th annual Métiers dArts show in Rome on the 1st December and will be the third mini-film directed by the fashion houses Creative Director.
The two-day shoot was completed last month, and Lagerfeld said of Stewart’s performance, “She played it really, really mean“. Most recently, she was seen gracing the catwalk alongside Julianne Moore in the labels iconic Grand Palais casino Autumn 2015 couture show. He added that Stewart was mean with the director and the producer.
The film will offer a fictional, behind-the-scenes look at a biopic in the making about founder Gabrielle Chanel.
Kristen has been a fixture on the Chanel front row for several years now as well as starring in campaigns for the fashion house.
Stewart, 25, will portray an actress impersonating the designer as a young woman. She’s done her best to show she can be more than Bella with movies like American Ultra, Snow White and the Huntsman, Still Alice, and now, she’s even taking on one designer role. Apart from conceiving the plot, Lagerfeld has taken care of the dialogue, costumes and casting of the flick.
In the film, a metafictional experiment takes place as Kristen plays an actress who is gearing up to play Coco Chanel.
Stewart and co-star Jesse Eisenberg’s film reportedly grossed at $5.5 million, and according to report of Entertainment Weekly, it was lower than expected.
