Kubiak holds off on naming starting QB for preseason opener
Mark Sanchez looks to hand off the ball during training camp drills held at the UCHealth Training Center on July 28 in Englewood, Colo. They’ll start Sanchez, put Siemian in in the first half, and then let Lynch play in the second half. Head coach Gary Kubiak recently lauded his rookie for stepping up big in practice. Still, it wouldn’t be a shock if the rookie were able to leapfrog up the depth chart with strong preseason performances.
Sanchez and Siemian are listed as co-No.
The four-year contract with Lynch includes a $5.1 million signing bonus and a fifth-year option the team can exercise after the 2018 season. After all, they won the Super Bowl previous year with Peyton Manning playing sub-par football – for anyone, not just by his own legendary standards.
Offensive coordinator Rick Dennison is looking forward to seeing each of the quarterbacks face their first live action of the preseason. “It’s not just one game, one series or one play”.
The two quarterbacks have split virtually all of the plays with the starting offense in training camp, with Lynch getting a smattering of plays.
“We’ve been practicing that way, too”.
There will be less individual position battles going on and more game preparation.
Kubiak said people should not read into which quarterback starts against the Bears.
