Kukesi await fate after abandonment
UEFA will await reports from the match referee and delegate before deciding whether to sanction FK Kukesi over the abandonment of their Europa League qualifier with Legia Warsaw.
The creative midfielder, who is reportedly being tracked by a number of clubs in Europe, including Arsenal, Southampton, Tottenham and Aston Villa, fell to the floor and required medical attention.
When the Legia Warsaw players complained, play was immediately halted as Duda was bandaged and taken off the pitch.
Legia later took to Twitter to inform their fans of the shocking incident, saying: “The game in Tirana is suspended”.
Both teams were charged over the throwing of objects by their fans, with hosts Kukesi also facing several other charges.
Ten minutes later, it added: “Official: the FK Kukesi – Legia game is ended”.
No announcement has been made on the subject by UEFA.
It is the second consecutive season that Legia’s European participation has been marked by controversy.
Legia were thrown out of last season’s Champions League qualifying round for fielding an ineligible player during a 6-1 aggregate win over Celtic.
