Kurt Cobain’s Beatles cover to get vinyl release
It’s unclear if this is the Nirvana version or a stand-alone attempt from Cobain. Listen to the song in the player below.
Though nothing has been made official just yet, a listing for the 7-inch recently surfaced online [via Modern-Vinyl] and says that it will feature Cobain’s cover of the Beatles’ 1964 single, “And I Love Her”.
“These suggest the 7” will be backed by ‘Sappy’ after the Montage Of Heck documentary DVD – and its accompanying LP which has been described as a Cobain “solo album” – get their own release in November. It’s unknown if “And I Love Her” will also appear on that record, as the tracklist has not yet been revealed. It has been covered by a diverse range of artists including Diana Krall, Pat Metheny and Al Di Meola.
A previously unheard track of Kurt Cobain covering the Beatles will be available this fall.
“Nobody in Kurt’s life – not his management, wife, bandmates – had ever heard his Beatles thing”, Morgen told Rolling Stone.
Previously unknown to exist, Morgen found the recording on a random tape, and included it in his film.
The news of the release comes from a Vinyl Collector forum post linking to a pre-order page, as Stereogum notes.
