Kurt Cobain’s cover of The Beatles to be released
“She only invited a close circle of friends to the party, and then phoned her mom afterwards to tell her the good news”. Love was said to be very “sad” she missed the nuptials and wasn’t there to support her daughter on the biggest day of her life.
That’s a full two weeks after the scheduled drop date for the Montage of Heck companion album, a collection of rare and unreleased Cobain solo material culled from the hours of music Morgen unearthed.
Courtney Love was not invited to her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain’s wedding. The 30-year-old singer, who had met Frances Bean back in high school, sings and plays guitar in a pop band called The Rambles and had once played for Katy Perry in the early days of her career, Crushable reported. In a frosty retort, Frances referred to Love as “my biological mother” and suggested she stay off of social media.
“Even though Kurt died in the most horrific way possible, there is this mythology and romanticism that surrounds him, because he’s 27 forever”.
I’m sure she took the news well. Now, Cobain’s haunting version will be officially released as a 7-inch vinyl single b/w his own rarity, “Sappy”.
Recognized with seven Emmy Award nominations (including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special) and following a festival run at both the Sundance Film Festival and Hot Docs, Brett Morgen’s Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck makes its Canadian television premiere in October on HBO Canada.
