Kurt Cobain “Solo Album” gets November Release Date
This includes “audio montages that Kurt Cobain created” and recordings of the artist talking in between the musical tracks, including “a sketch comedy routine featuring Kurt voicing all of the characters.”
It’s due to be released on November 6th.
Morgen was given complete access to Cobain’s tapes and diaries while making the documentary. When speaking about the LP “Just to be clear, it’s not a Nirvana album, it’s just Kurt and you’re going to hear him do things you never expected to come out of him”.
Billboard reports that director Brett Morgen was permitted access to an archive of unreleased material, which will form the spine of the new release. These aren’t multi-track, finished songs or work-ups, but they’re extraordinary, and I think they provide a tremendous insight into his [creative] process.
The album offers “a lighter portrait of Kurt than one might expect”, Morgen says. “I think they further our understanding of Kurt, both as a musician and as a man”.
Director Brett Morgen claims the song features Cobain singing in falsetto, comparable to Brian Wilson, and was thought to be recorded in 1991.
While a collaboration between two of the greatest frontmen of alternative rock is certainly a scintillating prospect, we reckon a big part of why it gets fans salivating is simply because it would mean more music from the late great Cobain.
The release date has been set for November 6.
