Kylie Jenner has only two close friends
Kylie Jenner‘s brand spanking new Interview magazine cover is breaking the internet but for all the wrong reasons.
The 18-year-old, looking like a sex doll covered in latex while on a wheelchair, has sparked online backlash as well as from disability advocates.
When people hear the name Kylie Jenner, one of the first things that come to mind are her lips.
Jenner was clearly playing with her look for the shoot, which was photographed by Steven Klein.
“This photo was a mistake, and if you’ve read this, I forgive you”, 17-year-old Brown wrote to Jenner at the conclusion of her MTV essay.
Huffington Post notes that while the sexualized nature of the images generated some commentary, it’s the photos where the reality star was posing in a wheelchair, the cover included, that have irked many people. If there’s one product that’s big on social media other than highlighters, it’s liquid lipsticks.
Meanwhile, Too Fab cited Emily Smith Beitiks, an associate director of Paul K. Longmore Institute in Disability in San Francisco, said that the act was “deeply disturbing”. “The app was really my thing, and I worked really hard on it. And now I’m coming out with a lip kit and I’m just trying to do a lot of things on my own, so I feel like people are starting to recognize me as an individual”.
People suffering from disabilities and in wheelchairs clearly did not agree with the magazine’s stand and tweeted their displeasure.
Amid the sex assault case Tyga is facing, Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend may be in a deeper hole as the “Stimulated” rapper is allegedly giving out excuses about why he was not able to buy the mansion near his girlfriend’s home. I think they’re great.
An apology would be nice, Whaley said Tuesday, although she doubts it will happen.
Some Twitter users even said that in the future, magazine concepts should include people living with disabilities as well as creative discussions about their art, fashion, and media exposure regardless of their condition.
Kylie Jenner takes a selfie on her phone as Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner arrive at Chadstone Shopping Centre on November 18, 2015 in Melbourne, Australia.
Last April, Jenner was accused of wearing blackface in what was meant to be a futuristic looking shot. There’s a picture of her in a crate like a mannequin, and others where she’s being carried stiffly by a bespectacled man. The photos are an homage to controversial British artist Allen Jones – best known for his sculptures that depict women, often in fetish gear, turned into pieces of furniture.
Interview magazine was made aware of the backslash in the aftermath of the release of the photos.
